Center has asked the Bihar government for a detailed report on how it can let such a stampede happen (claiming at least 33 lives by state records), when it is well known in advance how crowded our festivities are.
The bigger question however is, how long are our devotees and pilgrims going to suffer due to negligence of our administration ?

Reportedly 3-4 people from the back of the crowd shouted that an electrical wire has fallen loose – which led to the stampede. So sloppy was the administration that eyewitnesses say that 3 gates were opened for less than a 100 VIPs present at the occasion while only one gate was opened for approximately a lakh of not-so-Important citizens. There goes all your safety norms in the waste basket. Who cares for the so called ‘majority’ ?

Had it been some minority crowd, imagine the rush of media, police and administration. every victim’s next of kin would have had a job and ten lakh compensation in their kitty before sunrise today.
But alas it’s the ‘majority’ ones who’ve suffered so they’ve to rush from pillar to post just to get their injured admitted and bribe the officials to get compensation to treat their injuries.
You know this is the truth, however inconvenient, communal, or disturbing it may sound.
Sample this: It’s been learnt that the state CM had no information about the incident for hours after the incident. maybe he heard it from the TV while casually switching channels. Even the state health minister took 16 hours to reach the spot.
———————–
On a hindsight, one also gets a suspicion – isn’t all this happening too often to our devotees these days ? hand of ideologically motivated miscreants can’t be ruled out given the nature and identity of victims. To avoid further deepening of distrust, will the state governments wake up and learn their lessons ?
